CRISIS IN GERMANY
THE COMPROMISE BILL. BERLIN, July l. Germany is again in the throes of & political crisis as the result of a meeting of the Socialist Party in the Reichstag deciding to vote against the Government’s Compromise Bill in regard to the property of the ex-rulers. As the Right Parties also opposed the measure it cannot possibly obtain the required two-thirds majority. The Government has intimated that if the Reichstag does not pass the Bill it will resign or ask for a dissolution. CRISIS AVERTED. BERLIN, July 2. At President Hindenburg’s request ths Government has withdrawn the Compromise Bill. The Government will not resign and the Reichstag will not be dissolved. President Hindenburg sent a letter to the Chancellor pointing out that neither alternative would solve the problem relating to the ex-rulers' property. The Reichstag adopted a Bill prohibiting litigation regarding the ex-rulers’ property till the end of the year. In the meantime it is hoped that the Government will elaborate a scheme satisfactory to the Reichstag which will adjourn tomorrow till September.
