N.S. WALES FINANCE
SYDNEY, July 1. The New South Wales revenue for the year ended June 90 amounted to £38,649,646 compared with £38,932,235 in the previous year. The Expenditure amounted to £39,923,950 compared with £39,688,684 in the previous year. Mr Lang estimated that the year would end with a surplus of £13,616 whereas it ended with a deficit of £1,274,000. He attributed the deficit chiefly to the operations of the Railway and Tramway Department which showed • retrogression compared with the previous year in the way of earnings ana cost of upkeep of £1,489,000 mostly due to the draught conditions from March to September causing a falling off in primary production generally and a reduction of the wheat yield by 33,000,000 bushel*.
