THEFT OF FOWLS.
SIX PRIZE LEGHORNS STOLEN. Six prize hens were etolen from the pens of the Auckland Poultrykeepere’ Association at Mount Albert. The birds were white Leghorn pullets, and were entered in the egg-laying competitions on behalf of poultry fanners in various ports of the province. The value of the six hens is estimated at not less than £3O. The thief showed some discretion in the selection of birds, snd must have handled them with the skill of s poultry fancier, as the caretaker was not disturbed- The pens wen sll locked op, hut the thief adopted the simple expedient of sotting the wire-netting with sons sharp instrument.
