In connection with the matter of bringing the sanatorium staff under the provisions of the Hospital Employees’ Superannuation, the secretary reported that as the committee was not recognised as a hospital board within the meaning of the National Provident Amendment Act, the only way of handling this matter would be through the Maniototo Hospital Board, in which the Sanatorium property is vested. This procedure, however, was inconvenient and caused delay in the adjustment of staff payments, etc., and on the motion of Mr Potts, seconded by Mr Morgan, the secretary was directed to communicate with the National Provident Fuud Beard as to whether it would not be possible for the committee, with the approval of the Maniototo Board, handling the matter direct with the superintendent of the National Provident Fund. He had submitted a report on the matter to the department in Wellington. Mr A. P. Aldridge, consulting fegineer, reported on the trouble with the pipe line and breakdown to the oil engine plant, and

In connection with Mr Scott’s suggestion that the Farm Committee should pay monthly visits to the institution with a view to conferring with the farm manager, it was pointed out that owing to Messrs Ritchie and Morgan living some considerable distance from the farm and the loss of time thus involved these two members might visit the farm for this purpose the day before the committee’s monthly meeting.
