ICEBERG MENACE. Underwood and Underwood, photo. Breaking up the huge icebergs which threaten navigation is an every-day job for the crews of the cutters that make up the annual ice patrol at sea in the North Atlantic. A small boat lands a party with explosives on the ice, the charge is set, and the fuse placed. Before they reach the cutter again the explosion occurs, sometimes shattering the berg, and then again simply darkening its shiny side with no apparent damage. Photograph shows an excellent view of a berg.
