THE CONSOLIDATED FUND. RECEIPTS AND EXPENDITURE. COMPARATIVE FIGURES. (From Och Own Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, May 27. The Gazette to-night contains the statement of receipts and expenditure of the Consolidated Fund for the past financial year. A summary is appended showing the net expenditure for the past year, as compared with the previous year. The items are as follow (shillings and pence excluded):

INCREASES AND DECREASES THE PRINCIPAL ITEMS. WELLINGTON, May £7. In arriving at any comparison of the results as compared with the previous year extensive allowances must be made for transactions involved by the repayment of Public Debt Act and the Government Railways Amendment Act of last session. The adjustments and their full results will be explained in detail in the Financial Statement, Where comparisons are practicable the increases and decreases are:—

BEVENUE INCREASES OVER rBEVIOUB TEAK. £ Customs ... 814,488 Stamp and Death Duties 1D*,536 Post and Telegraph 370,858 There are two considerable new items of receipts—interest on railway capital liability £1,913.311; interact on Public Debt Redemption Fund ££97,756. decreases. £ Interest on publio moneys 583,059 Miscellaneous 182,536 Load tax 68,592 The decrease in interest on public moneys is mainly due to the fact that some £490,000 interest on advances to Discharged Soldiers’ Settlement Account has now been credited to interest on the Public Debt Redemption Fund as above expenditure. Under permanent charges there are increases in interest £264,537 and under

Special Acts £469,593. The latter is mostly due to payments in terms of the Government Railways Amendment Act of last year.
