BAND CONTEST CLOSES

Careless of the weather conditions, and thinking only of the endless recreation that Logan Park offered, there were thousands of visitors on Saturday morning, afternoon, and evening. In the 15 sheltered acres of displays and attractions the crowds of visitors enjoyed the closing session of the week to the utmost. It was unfortunate that rain fell so heavily and persistently for the greater part of the day, as the A Grade Quickstep competition of the brass bands’ contest wa s held under difficulties. The attendance at the Sports Ground was, however, a large one and in the evening the Festival Hall was crowded for the closing items of the contest. Several large partie a of excursionists, numbering some 2000 people arrived in the morning, and made the most of the hours at their disposal, while large numbers of children were present throughout the day. Under the circumstances the attendance of 30.203 was a remarkable tribute to the magnetism of the Exhibition. The grand total is now 1,817,619.
