(From Ou.n Own Correspondent.) February 25. S. J. Reid’s Trenthara team raced most consistently at the Wanganui meeting, where Nadarino. Spode, and Indian Sage were in the money on .five occasions out of six starts. They went on to Woodville. and ran two firsts and a second on the opening day. Nadarino was under offer to a Dunedin buyer for 300 guineas prior to the Wanganui meeting, but it was not completed. The price has since gone jp a couple of hundred. He ran out of the hack class at Woodville, and after completing Dannevirke engagements will have to run in open company. Mr Vivian Riddiford leaves Lyttelton on the 27th by the Ruahine on a visit to the Old Country. Comedy Prince, who won both hurdle races at Wanganui, was bred in Victoria. His dam, Rattler, is a sister to Seahouse, and cost Mr Sol. Green 1000 guineas at th( Yaldhurst dispersal sale. Desert G-old’s daughter Oreum is trained at Woodville, and scored her first win in the cup there on Wednesday. She is by King John, sire of Runnymede. She beat the consistant Novar, who won at Pahiatua and Egmont and was first and second at Wanganui. George Jones will train three of the yearlings sold at Mr Currie’s sale. Mr Greenwood did not waste any time on the trip as he was back in Christchurch the following morning for the races at Riccarton. Mr H. R. Sellars, secretary of the New Zealand Racing Conference, ig paying his first visit to the East Coast, and will be among the visitors at the Waiaou Racing Club’s first totalisator meeting to-day. 0. Cox put in an appearance on the second day at Wanganui with Reremoana and Lady Cavendish, and they ran first and second. After beir»tj in the money on both days at Wanganui, the Tea Tray filly Spode scored on the opening day at Woodville. Income and Seatown won again on the second day at Wanganui. The going did not suit Enthusiasm either day and Muraahi appears to have seen his best day. Civility, who was recently sold at Auckland to dissolve a partnership account, scored in the colors of Mr H. M. Speed, a steward of the club, on the concluding day. She will in future be trained by F. Lind. Tamatete ran another good race, considering he had 9.4 up. W. G. Stead resumed racing at the Woodville meeting. Hypnotic, by Absurd, ran third in the Maiden, and Comedic, by Absurd-Los Vegas, third in the Sapling Stakes. The consistent but unluckly Kaiti was runner-up in the open sprint race at Woodville to Polyphemus, who was making his fint appearance in open company.
