INVERCARGILL, February 24. The recent heavy rains had little effect on the track at Rugby Park to-day when the visiting American athletes conclusively proved their superiority over the local and visiting New Zealand runners. The track, although soft, was not holding and fair times were registered. Scholz scooped the pool in the sprints, winning the 75yds, 100yds, and 220yds all from scratch. Hahn won the mile and was third in the 440, beating Kyle, the brilliant Wellingtonian, by the barest of margins. The American distance man did not start in the half mile. Results: 75yda scratch race. The American took the lead at the commencement of the last lap and running strongly cleared away from his field and won in 4min 37 3-ssece, which was good considering the wind and the soft track. A large crowd was present and cheered the visitors on their performances. Hahn has been training assiduously while in Invercargill in view of his meeting with Rose at Christchurch on Saturday.
