A LIVELY MEETING.
WELLINGTON. May 15. . The first meeting of the new City Council held this afternoon for the purpose of setting up counnittoes was productive of lively debate on the constitution of the Finance Committee, which was vigorously attacked by the Labour members, who complained that though they represented onefifth of the council personnel, they had no representation 6n the Finance Committee and under the present system were not likely to havo any. • A lively discussion followed, but eventually the committee as originally proposed was appointed.
