Tho commercial people of Australia evidently consider strikes and lock-outs to b© among the country’s permanent institutions, as the following appears at the head of a big Sydney firm’s letter paper: “All contracts subject to usual strike, lock-out, and accident clauses.” A prison in Stornoway has been sold for £5. In 1818 the value of a Bank of England five-pound note was only £4 17s.
