SOUTHLAND COAL STRIKE.
WORK RESUMED YESTERDAY. INVERCARGILL, August 2. The strike at New Brighton and Birchwood mines was settled to-day and work will be resumed on Monday. The men are to receive 2d per ton increase in the hewing rate in lieu of getting detonators free of charge.
