N.Z. AND SOUTH SEAS EXHIBITION.

The weekly meeting of the directors of the New Zealand and South Seas Exhibition Company was held on Thursday, and was attended by Aiessrs J. Sutherland Ross (chairman), C. Speight, W. R. Hayward, C. Todd, A. Barnett, 11. F. Sincock, and T. Somerville. It was decided to appoint Chief Inspector T. R. Fleming to the Education Court Committee. It was decided to writs and thank the St. John Ambulance Brigade for its offer to supply two ambulance men nightly during the course of the Exhibition, and to accept the offer. Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin, and Invercargill, i lie secretary .stated that the matter of tea room in the dome of the concert hail vas not yet decided upon, so further consideration of matter of restaurants and tea rooms was deferred.” Other clauses in the report referred to the conditions relating to marble bars, fruit and confectionery stalls, etc. The report was adopted. The Publicity Committee reported, inter alia, that at its latest meeting the secretary had stated that the report cf the meeting of July 14 had been adopted by the directors, who had authorised the purchase of 10,900 copies of award rules and lists at a cost of £l2O. Mr Barnett said there was practically nothing arising out of the committee's report, which was adopted. The Horticulture Committee reported as follows:—“The secretary stated that the report of the meeting of July 15 bed been approved by the directors, who had granted the committee the sum of £2OO for the purchase of ornamental shrubs and plants to be used for decorative purposes inside the Exhibition buildings. Consideration of the question of supply of geranium plants was deferred until next meeting. The secretary reported that Mr TannOck considered that the clay vas being spread too thickly on the ground. Resolved that Messrs Hamel and Hart inspect the work that is being done, and after consultation with Mr Tannook communicate with the chairman ol the Works Committee.” The report was adopted. The Sports Committee submitted a lengthy list of meetings and the date allotted to each meeting. The draft of features read as follows: —- 1925. —November. —Pageant (dresses as worn at opening Wembley); public schools' tournament; Boys’ High School tournament ; summer show. December.—Boy Scouts’ jamboree; competitions—Australia; New Zealand; tug of war; lawn tennis 'tournament; trying to hold Davis Cup on Exhibition grounds; axemen’s carnival; interprovincial cricket match; living draughts tournament. 1926. January.—Otago athletic championship; New Zealand howling championship; international cricket match; battle of flowers. ... , February—New Zealand athletic championships; swimming tournament; Sanders Cup; Otago regatta; racing and trotting meetings; band contest; bull fight on Exhibition grounds. March. —Fire brigades’ carnival; chainpionship regatta; boxing championships; military tournament and rodeo Aoril.—Piping and Highland dancing; rifle championships; gymkana; clay pigeon shooting and hockey tournaments if ° c an be arranged; interprovincial football matches—Rugby and Soccer; fanciers Sh The committee also recommended that fireworks displays be held, say, fortnightly during the Exhibition period.
