OTAGO DELEGATES MEET. The first meeting of .the newly-elected delegates to the Dunedin Bowling Centro was held on Wednesday, when prior to the election of office-bearers, Mr W. Conner occupied the chair. The election of office-bearers for the ensuing year resulted as follows:—President, Mr F. J. Campbell; vice-president, Mr A. M’Kenzie; treasurer, Mr W. T. Ilenaghan ; executive —Messrs W. Jacobsen, \v. T. Easton, A. J. Sullivan, R. H. Todd, J. Harraway, D. M. Fastier, and W. Wright; auditors, Messrs C. R. Smeaton and J. A. M’Kinnon. Mr Campbell then took the chair. It was agreed that the Saturday interel ut> matches be carried out on the same principle as that of last year. Mr G. Nelson-pointed out that a better draw could be made up, and suggested that the nominations for Saturday matches be secured at an earlier date.—The suggestion was referred to the executive. Mr I). C. Cameron moved, and Mr G. Nelson seconded —-“That the four-rink championship be continued, the games to be p a ed in the evenings, except the semifinals and finals, which may be played on Saturday afternoons.” Mr Howard (Taieri) moved as an amendment—“ That the games bo played on Saturday afternoons, as it would be inconvenient for the country clubs to play in the evenings.” The amendment, which was seconded by Mr M’Kinnon, was defeated by a large majority, and the motion was carried A motion that any club with a membership of over 120 might enter two teams in the four-rink championship was defeated, and an amendment that only one team from each club should be entered was carried. On the motion of Mr Langley, it was resolved that tournaments be held at Christmas and Easter. Referring to the champion of champions’ contest, Mr Connor pointed out that several anomalies had occurred in the last competition, and in some cases two men had to play each other more than once. This difficulty, he thought, could be overcome by playing the contest in sections. In this way the green winners could he found and could play off on a neutral green. Mr J. R. Glover moved that the matter 'be left in the hands of the executive to arrange, and the motion was seconded and carried unanimously. The ballot for officers and members of the council of the Dominion Bowling Association resulted as follows: —Messrs Barnett (21 h "Benzie (21), Colville (30), Steans (9), Fastier (36), Glover (28), Marlow (18). This election, of course, is not a final one. It W'as agreed that the levy be the same as last year. The following notices of motion moved by Mr H. Smeaton were then dealt with:— (a) “That in all centre tournaments the skip of each rink or double will be held responsible for seeing that all bowls played by members. of his rink or double are stamped in accordance with the rules In the event of any unstamped bowls being played, the rink or double so offending shall be disqualified and the game awarded to their opponents.” (b) “ that in the event of any member of a rink playing unstamped bowls in the interelub matches, the side so offending shall be disqualified for the section in which thev are competing, and a win awarded to their opponents for that section.” After some discussion clause (a) was agreed to, with the following introductory words:—“That it be a recommendation to the council.” Tlie President ruled clause (b) out of order on the ground that the centre had no power to add to or to detract from tile rules. Mr J. Allen moved—“ That it be a recommendation to the executive that a shield rink competition for the champion rinks of each club be inaugurated.” He pointed out that in Invercargill this competition was the greatest bowling event of the year, and the club which had the maiority of wins retained the tronhv when all the inscription plates were filled. —The motion v--’ -■ -"i-i-ied "nanimedv. A hearty vote of thanks to the retiring president (Mr Connor) and the outgoing office-bearers concluded the meeting. PALMERSTON CLUB. The annual meeting of the Palmerston Bowling Club was held on Friday evening, when about 25 members were present. Mr W. B. Galloway (retiring president) was in the chair. The report and balance eheet showed that the club had had a successful season Several members had retired from the game or left the district, but. three new members were proposed. Messrs Hawsoa and James Ross, old members of the club, were elected life members. The following office-bearers were elected: President, Mr James Black; vice-president, Mr T. Picket ; secretary and treasurer, Mr Wm. M’Gregor; auditor, Mr A. A. M‘William’; General Committee —Messrs J. M’Ritchie ’ Christie, R. Cameron, G. B. Smith, J. S. Wilson, D. Michie, and J. Moody; Finance Committee, Messrs W. B. Galloway and T. Picket; Green Committee — Messrs T. Stenhouse, Ormsby, J. Lang, Hopkins, T. A. Cameron, and D. Michie; Match Committee —Messrs Galloway, Black, Wilson, and Picket; Refreshment Committee —Messrs Hopkins, A. M’Gregor, R. Bain, J. Y. S. Morrison, and J. Lang; Refreshment Committee— Messrs Galloway. Arkle, Bain, A. M’Gregor, Morrison, Haggie, Moody, and M’Ritchie; delegate to North Otago Centre, Mr W. B. Galloway. After the meeting a social evening was held.
