OTAGO HOSPITAL BOARD.
The regular meeting of the Otago Hospital Board, held on Thursday, was attended by Mr W. E. S. Knight (chairman), Mesdames Jackson, Macfie, Messrs Hancock, Morgan, Dove, Quelch, and Dr Newlands. The Directon-General of Health wrote that the Minister approved of the appointment of Dr Kendrick as junior house surgeon.—ReAnother communication from the same source stated that the Minister had approved of the purchase of radium at a cost of £l7oo.—Received. The North-East Valley Baptist Church wrote asking that Mas Morris be appointed official visitor to tbe Dunedin Hospital.—Referred to the Hospital Committee to act. Mrs I. J. Faddock wrote resigning her position as matron of the Louisa Roberts Hospital.—The resignation was accepted, the position to be advertised. Mrs Paddock also wrote with regard to the resignation of Mas Fyfe as housekeeper at the same hospital.—The resignation was accepted. Ur M. B. Gunn wrote resigning his position as medical officer at the Louisa Roberts Hospital.—Accepted. The Strath-Taieri Medical Club wrote in regard to the resignation of Dr Gunn, and stated that it was taking steps to fill tho position. The club extended an invitation to a representative of the board to be present at its next, meeting.—Mr Quelch waa appointed to lenresent the loard and attend the meeting if necessary. The Secretary reported the receipt of donations amounting to £45 14s. —Received. The Medical Superintendent forwarded a letter from the New Zealand branch of the British Red Croß3 Society and the Order of St.. John, Otago Centre, thanking the staff for kindness and courtesy.—Received. The Medical Director drew attention to tho sale of Mount Royal Estate, which was to take place shortly, and suggested that tho board might purchase a portion of the property adjoining Pleasant Valley Sanatorium. — It was decided to take no action. Out of the six applicants for the position of matron of the Pleasant Valley Sanatorium, the board appointed Mias Daisy Anderson,
