A pair of kangaroos arriv ed at Wellington on Wednesday by the l limarpa from Sydney for the Wellington Zoo. Ine ship also brought 17 pedigree rams from an Australian station for a New Zealand firm. . , gallant- rescue irom drowning was effected by Mrs Souter at Taneatua on Wednesday. While crossing the W-haka-taue River a gig driven by Mr Gooch was capsized, and be was pinned under the water. Mrs Souter, who was near by, rushed to the rescue, and held Mr Goochs head up till others arrived and extricated him in "an exhausted condition. lhe horse was drowned.
