STEALS HIS OWN CAR
WELLINGTON, July 13. Can a person be charged with stealing his own property? This question was raised in the court to-day. when Charles O'LbitghJin was charged with stealing his own motor car from outside a garage where it had been left for repairs. These had been effected, and, owing to the crowded state of tho garage, the ear was placed on tho street. O’Loughlin came along and took the car away without paying for tho repairs. Counsel for the defendant submitted that the garage proprietor had no interest in tlie car, though ho had a claim for the amount of the repairs. The case was dismissed.
A tribute to the efficiency of the rail- I way service in tho handling of stock comes from Mr Keith M'Lean, consignor of the ! shipment of 719 bullodes which were shipped j
110 Melbourne by the Waihora. The animals came lo Wellington from various centres, I and Mr M'Lcan states that not a single I bullock was in any way.
