WAD DAMAGE

RESTORATION OF RIIEIMS CATHEDRAL. PARIS, July 17. It is estimated that unless further funds are received it will take 50 years to restore Rheims Cathedral. It will cost 112,000,000 francs to repair the damage. Two million francs have been expended yearly since the armistice, but the work has been confined to clearing away the wreckage to make way for the new construction. It is expected that the great nave will be restored in two years, and then work will be commenced on the tower. On June 1 the French Minister of Fine Arts issued a decree accepting a legacy of 100,000 francs from the ex-Empress Eugenie for the reconstruction of Rheims Cathedral. LOUVAIN LIBRARY. BRUSSELS, July 17. Cardinal Mercier blessed the new library buildings at Louvain in the presence of Prince Leopold and a distinguished assemblage.
