GIRL CHARGED WITH THEFT.
AUCKLAND, .Tidy 16. An unusual case was heard at the Police Court to-day, when Ruby Alan Jessie Kent, aged 23, was charged with having strlen £l3O, the property of her stepfather. The money was kept in a locked chest, the key being hidden under a mattress. Tn a statement, the accused said that she used to tako small sums at various times, but never anything like £l3O, as alleged. Iler father had never given her any money since Christmas, yet she kept the house going, there being four in the household. She did not think she was committing a crime, as the money had gone to meet household expenses, and was not for lerself. She pleaded not guilty, and was com mitled for trial.
