BLED TO DEATH
ASHBURTON, July 17 Joseph Rountree is the .saddest father in New Zealand to-day. After sawing a tall pine lie inserted a wedge and walked towards his house, intending to return and complete the job. The tree crashed prematurely, pinn ng his son Harry, aged 28, under the branches. Seizing a sharp axe! the father hacked the branches in desperate Paste, and accidentally cut his son’s leg, which was concealed beneath the foliage! The son shouted: “You’ve cut mo!” °lt was found necessary to saw the tree across. The sen meantime bled to death. He was the only boy in a family of seven.
