MAGISTRATE OF PITCAIRN ISLAND. This photo is of remarkable interest. The man in the centre of the group is Robert E. Christian, magistrate of Pitcairn Island, and descendant of Christian, first officer of the Bounty, who led the famous mutiny which culminated in the settlement of Pitcairn Island by the mutineers. This picture was taken during the recent visit of the s.s. Remuera, commanded by Captain Cameron, who takes a great interest in the lonely Pitcairn Islanders. On the left are some Pitcairn Islanders. Reading from left to right are Mrs Myles, Commander Myles, R.N., Robert E. Christian (magistrate of Pitcairn), Sir Alfred Young (Chief Justice of Fiji), Captain Cameron, and Captain R. W. Campbell, author of “Spud Tamson,” etc. Just behind Sir Alfred Young is Mrs Scott, late of Edinburgh, and now of Christchurch. N.Z. Mrs Scott is the niece of John Brown, the famous author of "Rab and His Friends.” —Per favour N.Z. Shipping Co.
