OAMARU, July 14. The weather lias lnteitered with business in the stock market, and there is not much to report. So far as sheep are concerned, surplus stocks have been pretty we 1 i dealt with. There is still a good market for breeding ewes of good quality, with small prospects of the demand being met locally. At the regular market sale offerings cf sheep all round were on a very limited scale. Fat sheep were represented by a couple of pens of wethers, which brought 36s and 37s 6d respectively, whilst a pen of forward lambs realised 26s 9d. Other sheep were few in numbers, and sold well, the prices being as follow; —Four, six, and eight-tooth ewes, 36s 9d; sound-mouthed ewes, 33s to 34s 6d; fullmouthed ewes, 13s to IDs 6d; mixed-sex hoggets, 22s 6d to 27s 3d. At tho Duntroon 6aie the only sheep offered were a pen of aged halfbred ewes, but these failed to reacn the vendor's reserve. Sales by private treaty have been comparatively few, and have not included anything of note. The range of prices has been as follows:—Fat wethers, 40s; sound-moutlied ewes with a few sixtooth included. 365; sound-mouthed ewe, 30s; full and failing-mouthed ewes, 255; good failing-mouthed ewes, 245: inferior failingmouthed ewes, 14s; ewe hoggets, 2€s ana 275.

Outside of dairy cows, only a small amount of business has been done in cattle. No stores were offered at the regular market, but there was a good yarding of fat bullocks and steers, composed of medium and light sorts. The best of these sold at from £7 10s to £8 10s and the remainder at from £3 15s to £6 ss. Hales of fat stock by private treaty have been made as follows:—Bullocks, £lO 10s; small steers, £8 10s; prime, heifers, £7 to ±3; small cows, £5 3s to £7. Only young stores have been handled, and for these the prices have been; —Eigiiteen-months-old mixed sexes, £2 10s to £3; yearlings, £1 10s; calves, 10s to 15s.

There has been, a big turn-over of dairy stock, mainly under the hammer. A large yarding was offered at the regular market sale, and some difficulty was experienced in effecting a clearnce at lowered rates, hut nothing of particular merit was presented. The best of the cows at profit went at from £8 to £3, and aged cows at from £3 to £4, while spring calvers were knocked down at from £2 to £4. The feature of the week in respect to dairy stock was furnished by a clearing sale of a dairy herd at Maheno on Thursday. A number of the animals had a distinct Holstein strain, and met with a good competition. Cows, second and third calvers due to calve in August and September, brought from £9 to £l4 15s, aged oows from £5 to £8 15s, heifers from £6 to £7 10s, yearling heifers from £2 5s to £5, and a yearling Holstein bull £7 15s.
