RI’.CH’ROCITY WITH THE STATES. MUTUAL AGREEMENT DESIRED. OTTAWA, June 15. The House of Commons endorsed the offer of tariff reciprocity to the United States. Supporting the Government, Mr W. 0. Good (Progressive) declared: If we do not have the closest possible trade relations with the United States I do not think we shall be able to preserve the Con federation. Mr Fielding, Finance Minister, declared that if Canada had the opportunity of getting ttie 1911 agreement again with the
United States three-quarters of the country would rejoice to have it. According t fr > Government spokesmen, the reciprocity will be the chief issue in the next political campaign. RECOGNITION OF LABOUR PARTY. OTTAWA, June 16. Canadian Labour won its first recognition in the dominion House of Commons when the Speaker recognised Mr Woods Worth, the Labour member, whom his confreres acknowledged as their leader. With this accession to their prestige it is planned to place several Labour candidates in the field at next dominion election, which will mark the divorcement of the Labour organisation from the United Farmers, Liberals, and Conservatives, as well as the collapse of the movement to secure disruption of Labour.
