WESTLAND EXHIBITION.

ACCOMMODATION ARRANGEMEN TS. HOKITIKA. June 11. At a meeting cf the guarantors of the | British Intercolonial Exhibition to be held here in December and January next, the executive was authorised to arrange for bedding accommodation on the hostel principle. Two large schools and other cent rnedious buildings are to be utilised and fitted up with comfortable accommodation under the supervision of the matron and the necessary staff. The licensed victuallers at a meeting also indicated their intention of extending their accommodation, and it is proposed to increase the guarantee to not less than £SOOO to enable the Exhibition Committee to finance the hostel arrangements. It is fully expected that the proposals when carried into effect will meet the pressure for accommodation ano ensure the complete success cf the large undertaking. To-morrow a delegation from the executive will leave on a visit to the northern towns cf the coast, Nelson, and Marlborough, in order to form local committees to arrange district exhibits. Several applications hive been received for space, including substantial provision for the Otago Manufacturers’ Association.

The motor services which have been established between AA’anganui and Palmerston North are growing in popularity and the majority of travellers now avail themselves of the service. The train service takes about twice as long.
