PRESBYTERY OF DUNSTAN

The Duns tan Presbytery met in the Alexandra Church on the 29th ult., when the Rev. W. P. Rankin (Moderator) presided, and the following, among other subjects, were dealt with:

The Rev. A. Y. G. Chandler, interim Moderator of {Tie Mount Ida charge, laid on the table a call from the Mount Ida- parish addressed to the Rev. D. N. M'Kenzie, of Paterangi, Waikato, signed by 76 communicant members out of a roll of 91, and concurred in by 48 adherents, the salary offered being £275 per annum, with £SO car allowance. On his motion the call was sustained. —After a discussion concerning the cost of translation from the North Island, the resolution was carried. Arrangements concerning induction were left in the hands of the interim-Moderator.

The Rev. J. Standring (interim-Moderator of the Strath-Taieri charge) presented a calf from that, charge addressed to the Rev. A. H. Wheeldon, signed by 43 members out of a roll of 73, and by 20 adherents, the salary offered being £275, with motor ear and upkeep.—The call was sustained and accepted on Mr Wheeldon’s behalf.

The Rev. A. Y. G. Chandler (interimModerator of the Patcaroa-Waipiata charge) stated that a call had been signed by 32 out of 36 communicant members and by 37 adherents. The manse at Waipi-ata would be repaired, and travelling facilities for the minister would be provided. The salary promised was the equal dividend. The call was addressed to the Rev. A. J. Davies, late of Reefton.—The call was sustained on behalf of Mr Davis. The induction services were fixed for Middlemarch on June 26, and for PatcaroaWaipiata on June 27, the Revs. J. Standring, W. P. Rankin, and A. V. G. Chandler being appointed to carry out the arrangements. The Clerk laid on the table a call addressed -to the Rev. L. N. Walker from Hamilton, Brisbane, signed by 33 communicants and 46 adherents, and offering a salary of £350. —Mr Walker stated that tho call was quite unsought, and that he was quite undecided concerning it. Owing to postal delay no congregational meeting had been held to discuss the matter. —It was decided to postpone dealing with the call till the next meeting of Presbytery, tlie Teviot congregation to be consulted in the meantime-.

The Moderator of the Ida Valley Homo Mission Station stated that Mr Wells had been appointed to that oharge for one year, and that he had an application from Mr Nicolson. secretary of the committee, that Mr Wells be ordained.—Tho clerk was instructed to inform the committee that the regulations prevented this being done.

The remit concerning ministerial tenure was, on the motion of the Rev. L. W. Walker, seconded by the clerk, unanimously disapproved.

Mr A. 11. Lennox having resigned Ids posi, tion of Presbytery elder and "session clerk of Patearoa-Waipiata charge, a resolution was passed accepting his resignation, and expressing thanks for his services, and wishing him success in his new sphere. Th© Rev. L. W. Walker reported concerning the co-operation with the Methodist Church in the Teviot charge, stating that everything was working harmoniously, and that he and his office-bearers were quite satisfied with the present arrangements.—'The report was received. It was decided that the assessments for Presbytery’s expenses, now due, be the same as last year’s—viz., £2 and £1 15s.
