THE DAVIS CUP. BERNE, June 3. Switzerland beat Czecho-Slovakia by three matches to two for the Davis Cup. LONDON, June 5. Ireland surprisingly defeated India in the Davis Cup at Dublin by 3 matches to 2. She will meet France in tile second round.- / MISS M'KANE DEFEATS MRS MALLORY. LONDON, June 3. Miss M'Kane defeated Mrs Mallory in the Middlesex championship, G—3, 6—2. Miss M'Kane is a London girl, and is., regarded as England's hops and coming world's champion at Wimbledon. She won the AllEngland Singles in 1920-21. She is graceful, of slender build, and presents a picture of strength, agility, and speed. It is stated that Mdlle. Lenglen regards her as the most dangerous English opponent. Norton defeated Greig, B—6, 6—2. MRS CLAYTON BEATS MRS MALLORY. LONDON, June 9. Considerable surprise was occasioned by Ihe victory of Mrs Clayton over Mrs Mallory at the North London championships. 6 —3, 6 —3. The winner played an inspired game, while Mrs Mallory could not get command of the ball. Her chances against Mile. Lenglen at Wimbledon are now considered to be small.
