Prime heavy bullocks made from £9 15a to £ll 7a 6d; extra, to £l3; mediumweight bullocks, from £7 10s to £8 12s 6d; light and inferior, from £4; prime heifers and cows sold at- from £6 las to £7 10s; light and inferior, from £3. OAMARU MARKETS. (From Our Own O-respondent.) OAMARU, May 18. The stock market has not been marked, by any activity- At the weekly sale there was a comparatively small yarding of sheep. The most conspicuous offering was found in the pens for fat lambs, which ranged from 28s 6d to 29s 9d for prime, and from 25s to 27s 6d for medium, while unfinished sorts were sold at 21s 6d. Other prices were as follows: Fat wethers, 325; fat ewes, from 15s 6d to 295, according to quality; mixed six and eight-tooth and failing-mouthed ewes, 24s 9d; sound-mouthed ewes, from 27s 6d to 28s; rape lambs, 20s; store lamb 3, from 15s 4d to 17s. Only a small amount of business has been done in sheep by private treaty and the range of prices lias been as follows; —• Mixed four, six, and eight-tooth ewes, 24s 6d; forward wethers, ©8 6a; fat ewes, from 20s to 25s 9d; fat lambs, on a basis of from B£d to 9|d per lb. The chief feature of the cattle market during the week has been the clearing sale of a dairy herd, which formed the leading event of the weekly sale. Tho lot included a few Jerseys, and these sold at for a cow with two show second prizes to her credit, loigs for a heifer two and a-half years old. and 14>,gs for a four-year-old cow. Other cows sold at- from £ls down to £5, according to age. quality, and profit condition. SOUTHLAND MARKET REPORT. (From Our Own Correspondent.) INVERCARGILL. May 18. Stock. —Since our last report the fat cattle market has eased up considerably. Extra prime ox beef is now 20s to 22s per 1001 b, a drop of 2s per 100 on last week’s quotations. In this section the market is over supplied. The fat sheep market remains practically the same. If anything, fat wethers have advanced from Is to Is 6d per head. The store cattle market remains about the same, there being practically no difference in prices, with the exception of store lambs. These have dropped from 3s to 4s per head. The store cattle market is very depressed, in fact, there is very little demand for any class of store cattle. Fat Cattle. —Prime ox beef, 20s to 22s 6d; prime heifer, 15s to 17s 6d; cow, 10s to 12s 6d per 1001 b. The Kauri Timber Company will pav an interim dividend of 8 per cent, for the halfyear ended February 23. NEW ZEALAND PAPER MILLS. The annual report of the New Zealand Paper Mills (Ltd.), for the year ended March 31, shows that after making provision for all bad and doubtful debts, for depreciation on plant and machinery, for income tax, and deducting the interim dividend o.f £4640 Is 9d paid on November 14, 1922, there is left available £16,256 10s 9d. The directors recommend that this be dealt with as follows:—Payment of dividend at the rate of 4 per cent, for the half-year (making 71 per cent, for the year), £5861 18s 9d; "carry forward, £10,394 12s. Tho extensions at Mataura are approaching completion. The paper machine is in position; the new sections of the preparatory plant and steam plant are ready for work, and it is hoped that in about two months’ time paper can be manufactured with this new modern equipment. Work on the present plant at Mataura and at the other mills has been proceeding satisfactorily. TRUSTEES. EXECUTORS, AND AGENCY COMPANY. , Th e annual report of the directors of the Trustees, Executors, and Agency Company o.f New Zealand states that the profit and loss account shows a net profit for the year of £2658 Is lOd. To this has to be added the balance of £7655 3s lOd from last year, making a total at credit of £10,313 5s 8d An interim dividend of 10 per cent, for the half-year absorbed £SOO, leaving a balance to be dealt with of £9813 5s Bd.
