Very good reports have come forward as to the success that has bean met with by running goats on blackberry-infested country (records the YVairoa Star). '1 Hose with experience in this matter state that the running of a fair number of goats does not decrease the sheep-carrying capacity, and tho local branch of the Farmers’ Union has therefore secured about 400 goats from up the East Cape for distribution amongst members. The cost of New Zealand railway lines now open, and the rolling stock in use. is estimated at. £39.309,997, and of unopened lines at £5,380,651.
