NEW ZEALAND AND SOUTH SEAS EXHIBITION.

TO BE AN INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION. A fully attended meeting of the Provisional Committee of the proposed Dunedin Exhibition was held in the City Council Chambers last evening. Cr J. S. Douglas presided over an attendance of about 50 Jhe purpose of the meeting was to receive and discuss important reports from the Finance Committee and from the Sites Committee. The report of the Finance Sub-committee was received, and its clauses discussed one Dy one. The first clause that the Exhibition be an Imperial Exhibition evoked considerable discussion. Eventually it was resolved that the Exhibition be an international one, and that the title be the New Zealand and South Seas International Exhibition, Dunedin, 1925-26. It was further resolved to form a company with a capital of £IOO,OOO in £1 shares, and a subcommittee was appointed to draw up a memorandum and articles of association. It was also resolved to make a canvass for shareholders, the minimum subscription to be 20.0C0. The Sites Committee reported in favour of the Lake Logan site (formerly Pelichet Bay) as the most suitable. The matter was discussed from various points of view, but finally it was decided by 19 to 16 to defer a decision until more information was available. CANTERBURY INDUSTRIAL ASSOCIATION. NO SUPPORT FOR INTERNATIONAL IDEA. CHRISTCHURCH, May 16. At a meeting of the executive of the Industrial Association to-night the following motion was carried:—That the Canterbury Association adhere to the promise made to the meeting of the Industrial Corporation that the support of the association should be accorded to tihe Dunedin Exhibition, provided it was an Imperial Exhibition, but that if the' Dunedin Exhibition Committee decided to go on with an International Exhibition the Canterbury Association could promise it no support whatever. One member said the international idea was being engineered for a reason. There was money in it for some people.
