Firpo, though wold at failing to land most of the time, placed two or three tremendous body punches, which M'Auliffe was unable to withstand. M'Auliffe was floored in every round for short counts. WILLARD-JOHNSON CONTEST. NEW YORK, May 12. The referee stopped the Wiliard-johnson bout in the eleventh round, when after the gong had clanged Johnson fell to the floor in his corner, unable to move. The bout, which was scheduled to go 15 rounds, was interesting, not for Willard’s work, but because of Johnson’s gameness. The latter took hard punishment but led m every round, inflicting considerable punishment upon Willard, whose body was badly bruised. Willard's weight was 2481 b and Johnson's 1351 b, and greater weight won for Willard, who was slow on his feet and very tiled after the third round, end actually wobbling as the bout drew to an end. Willard did not demonstrate his rejuvenation. Tex Rickard announces that he will match Willaid against Firpo, probably on June 30. BOXING IN AUSTRALIA. SYDNEY, May 12. At the Stadium Kid Dale beat Dan Morgan, the Welsh light-weight champion, on points after 20 gruelling rounds. The winner’s power to give and take unlimited hard knocks largely neutralised the Welshman’s superior skill and ringcraft. NAPIER TOURNAMENT. NAPIER, May 13. At the boxing tournament last night, Fred Hansen (Auckland) and Paul Hannah (Hastings) fought 10 rounds for a purse o* ITS. The former, who was the stronger man throughout, was awarded the verdict on points. Jack Neilson (Australia) and Carl Calloway (Napier) fought a draw in a sixround bout.

BOXING COUNCIL. CHRISTCHURCH, May 12. The postal vole taken l>y the Boxing Council to decide the locations of the Nortn and South Island championships has resuited in the selection of Napier for the North and Ashburton for the South. The council decided to ask the Minister to amend the regulations in the direction of making it compulsory that under the covering of the ring floor there should be saddlers’ felt not less than |in thick, and also that the Prime Minister bs asked to abolish or reduce the amusement tax. OTAGO BOXING ASSOCIATION. At a special general meeting of the Otago Boxing Association in view of the dispute with the N.Z. Boxing Council arising out of the M'Quarrie M'Cleary contest, the president (Mr T. M. Gillies) and the membars of the Executive handed in their resignations. The following provisional committee was then set up to carry on in the meantime: —Messrs A. H. Ledgerwood, W. Stewart, H. Bowie, TI. W. Phillips, and W. H. Matthews. Mr Bowie was appointed secretary. It was resolved to apply to the Boxing Council for re-affiliation.
