ASTRONOMICAL NOTES FOR MAY.

THE SUN. The sun’s path during the month of May will be in R.A. from 2.30.42 to 4.29.12, in declination from 14.50.49 north to 21.48.26, and in longitude from 40.5.21 to 69.0.24. THE MOON. The phases of the moon will be as fofi lows: Last quarter Btli 5.48 a.m. New moon 16th 10.8 a.m. First quarter 24th 1.55 a.m. Full moon 30th 4.37 p.m. Apogee 13th 4.18 p.m. Perigee 29th 3.18 a.m. THE PLANETS. Mercury will lie in R.A. from 3.50.29 to 4.15.51 and in north declination from 22.42.46 to 18.39.16. It will be at its greatest elongation on the sth, and in conjunction with the moon on the 16th. It will be stationary on the 17th and in inferior conjunction with the sun on the 2Sth. Venus will be in R.A. from 0.24.12 to 2.39.52 and in north declination from 0.50.3 to 13 52.6. It will be in conjunction with the moon on the 12th and at its greatest hel. lat. south on the 20th. Mars will be in R.A. from 4.34.47 to 6.1.46 and in north declination from 22.48.36 to 24.24.51. It will be in conjunction with the rncon on the 17th. Jupiter will be in R.A. from 14.50.9 to 14.35.58 and in south declination from 14.57.0 to 13.55.46. It will be in opposition to the sun on the sth and in conjunction with tho moon on the 27th. Saturn will be in R.A. from 12.59.34 to 12.54.6 and in south declination from 3.23.36 to 2.55.9. It will be in conjunction with tho moon on the 26th.
