ARSENIC IN CHOCOLATES
CHARGE AGAINST TATAM. LONDON, February 9. Sir Richard Muir, senior Treasury counsel at the Central Criminal Court, in opening the case against Tatain, said that one of the chocolates sent to Sir William Horwood contained six grains of arsenic. The prisoner told the police after his arrest that he had sent the chocolates for analytical purposes, and that he had no desire to harm Sir William Horwood. Medical testimony was given as to Tatam’s. mental condition, and his confinement in a mental institution. He was remanded for a week. m [Walter Francis Tatam was charged at Bow street in connection with the recent attempt to poison Sir William Horwood, head of the Metropolitan Police, by means of poisoned chocolates.
