PRINCESS MARY
A SON AND HEIR. LONDON, February 8. Princess Mary has been delivered of a son. Both are well. The almost continuous presence of the King and Queen at Viscount Lascelles s house in the afternoon and evening attracted a crowd outside, who cheered when the announcement of the birth of a son was made about midnight. It is officially announced that Princess Mary passed a comfortable night, and that her condition is quite satisfactory. Sir Janies Allen, on behalf of the Royal New Zealand Society for the Health of Women and Children, presented Princess Mary with a handsomely--bound volume containing Dr Truby King’s booklets on “The Feeding and C'are of Baby, ’ etc. Princess Mary’s son will be styled Prince, but not Royal Highness. LONDON, February 9. Princess Mary’s baby has his mother s blue eyes and fair complexion. Most of the infant’s clothes were made by the Queen and Princess Mary, the whole being of the simplest character. Hundreds of congratulatory messages have been received.
