THE CHRISTCHURCH TRAGEDY.
MILK HELD RESPONSIBLE CHRISTCHURCH, February 7. In connection with the Brighton poisoning cases, the hospital authorities report that the condition of the father and the two eldest children shows slight improvement, but there is" no change in the condition of the mother and the youngest child. Dr Telford, medical health officer, states that so far as the department’s investigations are concerned it had been established that the. fruit which was eaten by the family was not a factor in the poisoning. Post mortom investigations by Dr Pearson, pathologist at Christchurcli Hospital, revealed that the tragedy was probably due to bacteria in the milk which was used in making blanc-mange, which was eaten at tea.
