WELLINGTON NOTES.

' |From Our Own Correspondent.) February 3 R. D. O’Donnell will be the only Trenthain trainer to do the West Coast trip. He is taking up Solfanello, who appears to have lost some of his brilliancy, but is being kept up in the weights. Tho Blenheim-owned horses. Dick and M.aritza, returned from Sydney last week. The latter was mated in New Soulh Wales with Chantemerle. Callaghan and Martial Dawn are now trained by F. Higgott at Otaki. The Woodviile Jockey Club was favoured with fine weather for its Autumn meeting on Wednesday and Thursday, and will come out on the .right side. Su-nart, who is trained at Woodviile, was not produced either day, being reserved for Egmont. After his two good races at Trentham there was a rush to get on Killashandra the second day. The horse was in the paddock, but he was not started. Kail (All Black —Mrs Wiggs) was badly handled in the hurdles on the first day, and was beaten by Olynthus (Demosthenes—Etona).- The latter was not produced on the second day when Kail, who carried 61b more, never gave his opponents a lodk in. Mr F. Ormond took the two-year-old race each day with Misgovern (King Mark—■ Parula), who was easily the best of the juveniles at the meeting. Tawehi tKilbroney—Taringamutu) will improve with the race he had on the first day. His stable mate, The Drake (Clarenceux —Love a Duck), looks a likely sort that may win races later. Hallowroz (Hallowmas —Meroze) and Dissertation ran first and second in the Cup, which positions they also filled at Pahiatua. Crown Star, the other place-getter, was well supported on the second day, but was beaten by The Speaker, who only had to carry the minimum weight. The only one of the Trentham lot to scope was Deroulede, who was successful on both days. On the concluding day she interfered with Pirkie and Nursing Sister, and was placed third. L. G. Butler, who rode her, was suspended for three months for careless riding. Had she gone straight instead of altering her course by coming away from the rails she would probably nave won. Taipairu and Megan (Solferino —Success) ran a good race each day. Two horses the machine said would show improved form on the second day both scored. They were Aratura, a full brother to Kail, and Fera. The latter was ridden by M. M’Cdrten each day. ,
