REDUCED POSTAL CHARGES

MONEY ORDER RATES. PRIVATE MAID BAGS. In addition to the reductions (which come into force on February 1) in the cost oi letter postage and telegrams, reductions are also announced in the cost of money orders and the postage of printed matter. The price for money orders will be as follows : Payable in New Zealand: Id for each £1 or fraction thereof, hut with a minimum charge of 6d, plus a telegraph fee of Is if order is sent by ordinary telegram, or 2s if it is sent by urgent telegram. For a private communication for the payee, added to the official telegram of advice : Id per word if order is sent by ordinary telegram, or 2d per word if it is sent by urgent telegram. Undelivered printed matter prepaid Id that has been posted in New Zealand (id outside Zealand) and bears a special request for its return to the sender or is of intrinsic value, will be returned and charged additional postage of Id. Savings Bank telegrams will ice charged the same rate as ordinary telegrams 9d for 12 words (urgent rates, Is 6d). For inland multiple telegrams, the additional fee for each address after the first shall be for ordinary telegrams 4gd, urgent ~ :U ele 5 ram , s , ,/ rom farmers, addressed Weather, Wellington, seeking information as to the state of the weather, are to be charged Is for message and reply. The rates for private mail bags carried by contractors will be £2 per annum for first bag, £1 for second bag, half rates if delivery is taken at post office where bag is made up. For private bags carried otherwise than by contractor, same rates, where the cost of carriage does not exceed contractor’s rates; where it exceeds them, £1 per annum, plus actual cost of carriage.
