WEATHER SUMMARY

Generally spoaking, a very wet month has been experienced throughout I’Fte dominion, torrential downpours occurring in northern cities, but, judging by the records, Dunedin had much finer weather. During the past month rain fell on 12 days, the monthly fall amounting to 2.245 in, as compared with 3.440 in for 18 wet days in January, 1922. The showery weather was spread over the whole month, but during the past week it has been very hot and close. In January, 1921. in which there were eight wet days, the fall amounted to 1.540 in. In January of 1920, 1.200 in for 12 days; January, I§l9. 6.200 in for 24 days; January, 1918, 2.2 Coin for 11 days; and in January, 1917. 2.850 in for 14 days. The daily falls during the past month were as follow:—4. .040; 6. .020; 10, .120; 11. .260; 13, .010; 16, .430; 17, .250; 18. .010; 23, .280; 24, .140 ; 27. .620 ; 28, .060 ; 29, .005—equals 2.245i.n. The heaviest fall was recorded on the 27th, when the gauge at the Pumping Station registered .620 in, .430 in being registered on the 16th.
