(Fbom Oue Own Uorbespondknt.) SYDNEY, January 18. Prickly pear saved the life of "a man who has just bepn rescued in the Dawson Valley, Queensland, after being lost for nine days. During that time he subsisted on prickly pear and a little water. The man, who is a Dane, left Rockhampton to look for work, intending to make for a construction camp. He received rations at a station and struck across country for Baralaba. There was a dense area of pear, and in this ho lost his way for nine days. When he eventually turned up at Rannes ho had terribly inflamed wounds on the legs and back, caused by the pear. He also lost his trousers. At one period Nielsen lost his senses. Owing to the spines of prickly pear his mouth was so inflamed that he was unable to eat anything for days.
