RECORD PRICE FOR CROSSBRED. INVERCARGILL, January 28. The first Invercargill wool sale of . the season was held on Saturday, 6500 bales bein» offered. British, colonial, American, and ° Continental buyers were represented, and there was the keenest competition for all classes. Values were up to the commandeer prices, and altogether it was the best auction sale of wool ever held in Southland. Crossbred prices constituted a recora. Medium crossbreds were up 3d per lb on toe Christchurch rates, and pieces advanced 3d. Crossbred hoggets realised up to 171% whicu is said to be a dominion record. The bulk of the offerings were secured for export, the dominion mills securing a fair quantity of the better kinds. The range of values was as follows: Half bred: Super, 22d to 21d; medium, 18d to 21d; inferior, 16id to 17Jd. Three-quarter bred: Super, 17d to 19d; medium, 15d to 16id; inferior, 14d to 15d. Medium Crossbred: Super, 17d to 18£d; medium, 13d to 15£d; inferior, lOd to 12id. Coarse Crossbred: Super, lOd to 12d; medium, lOid to llid; inferior, 9d to lOJd. Pieces: Halfbred, 16i<l to 20?.d; crossbred, 10d to 15d. Locks, 5d to 5Jd. Bellies: Halfbred, 12d to l&id. Crutcliings, 5d to 7id.
