Within the memory of the oldest inhabitant there was never such a thunderstorm and downpour as was experienced in the district on Wednesday afternoon (says the Winton Record). The atmosphere was full of electricity, and the lightning fused telephone and telegraph apparatus. Considerable damage was done m this respect. It is stated that damage was done to property and that animals were killed, but this is without confirmation. The thunder was deafening, and the downpour flooded the water channels of both town and district.
