CHARGES OF THEFT. EXTRADITION ORDER GRANTED. AUCKLAND, January 25. Jane Andrews, 28 years of age, and Claude Smith, 28 years of age, have been ordered to be extradited to Sydney. The woman is charged with the theft of £250 in cash and jewellery valued at £350, the property of her husband. Frank Andrews, of Armadale, New South Wales; and the man with the theft of a horse and sulky, the property of Andrews. The pair recently arrived from Sydney in company. The magistrate overruled counsel’* contention that a woman could not be charged with the theft of her husband’s property, and that the charges were trumped up by the woman’s husband, who actually went to the steamer at Sydney to see her off, and promised to send her money. The magistrate ruled that the only evidence which would enable him to refuse extradition would be evidence that she was not the woman referred to in the warrant.

A party, including a Government photographer, is at present engaged in taking moving pictures of the whole of the West Coast Sounds. These will be the first kinema views taken of the Sounds, and they will be exhibited at the British Empire Exhibition in 1924, and later throughout the whole of the English-speaking countries.
