FIRE BRIGADES’ DEMONSTRATION.

At a meeting of the Entertainment Committee of the United Fire Brigades’ Demonstration, at which Mr R. Bennell presided, the following programme was drawn up, to he submitted to the executive for approval : Thursday and Friday, March 1 and 2. l’ire brigades’ conference during rhe day. Thursday Evening, March 1. —Torchlight procession through the city and display at the tJaledonian Grounds. Friday Afternoon, March 2. —An effort will be made to arrange a motor run for the visiting firemen. Friday Evening.— Arrangements to be made for taking the visitors to the various theatres. Saturday Afternoon, March 3.—Fire brigades’ demonstration at the Caledonian Grounds. Sunday Morning, March 4.—Church parade. Sunday Afternoon. —It was resolved to endeavour to take the visitors down the harbour on the ferry steamers. Monday, March s.—Fire brigades’ demonstration, Caledonian Grounds. Monday Evening. Dance at the St. Kilda Town Hall. luesday, March 6. Fire brigades’ demonstration, Caledonian Grounds. Tuesday Evening. -Smoke concert and presentation of prizes. it was resolved to ask the Mayor io welcome the fire brigades, to write to the Bowling Centre asking if the various clubs could throw their greens open to the visitors; to ask the council to grant the visiting firemen the use of the municipal baths during their stay in. Dunedin; to ask manufacturers to allow the visitors to see through the various factories. I he following were appointed a committee to receive the brigades;—Messrs I.awrie, Dove, Ross, Haig, Salmon, Toner, Armit. Beveridge, and Wiidie. . It was resolved to arrange for an observation car to take the \isilors round llie city in the mornings during the week.
