COMMERCIAL TRAVELLERS' ASSOCIATION.

Ihe thirty-eighth annual meeting of the Commercial Travellers and Warehousemen's Association of Otago was held in the club premises on the 26th. Mr F. H. King (president) occupied the chair, and there was a large attendance. A letter was received from the secretary of the Mount Cook Motor Company offering special inducements to members cf the association for a trip from Timaru to the Hermitage at EastoV.—The Secretary asked members to consider the matter and inform the association if they decided to make the trip In moving ’the adoption of the annual report and balance sheet the chairman congratulated members on the improvement in the finances achieved during the year. Although the improvement was only slight they were moving in the right direction. They had experienced a strenuous time, but he hoped that the enhanced prosperity of the dominion would eventually be reflected in the finances of the association. Mr 11. F. Nees seconded the motion, which was carried. The election of offic-ers-bearers resulted as follows:—President, Mr 11. F. Nees; vicepresidents—Messrs Fred Peake, n. W. S. Hellyer, and Win. Thomson; committee— Messrs D. V. Gain. Jas. T. Gillan. H. J. Grubb, F. W. Mitchell, Wm. Tyrie, J. L. Gardiner, Ivan Oliver, J. D. Cameron, B. G. Midgley, E. A. De Carle; lion. Treasurer, -Mr A. H. Crawley; auditor, Mr James F. Peake. A motion in favour of holding a picnic this year was carried, and a small committee was set up to deal with the matter. A motion in favour cf the retention of the 8.30 a.m. Dunedin-Invercargill and the 1.38 Invercargill-Dnnedin expresses daily was carried, the opinion being strongly expressed that these trains were the most suitable for commercial travellers and business men. Votes of thanks were accorded to the retiring president and other office-bearers for their services during the year.
