COMMANDER FRANK WILD
ROMANCE AND MARRIAGE. A SECRET WEDDING. (From Our Own Correspondent.) LONDON, November 10. No one except those immediately concerned, and Mr j. Q. Rowett, who was mainly responsible for financing the Shackleton-Rowett Expedition, knew anything about the proposed wedding of Commander Frank Wild. This occurred last week and he was married to Mrs Granville Altman by special license at Reading Register Office. The bride is a widow of a Borneo tea planter. Mrs Altman’s husband died Jin Vladivostok, on the Pacific coast of Siberia, during the war. Unable to get home by sea, Mrs Altman trekked from Vladivostock across Siberia and Russia, about 3000 mile*, to Archangel, where there was a number of refugees. She was met there by a party of which Commander Wild was a member, and he assisted her to get out of Russia. Later he met her again in London. Commander Wild and his bride spent their honeymoon at Bournemouth.
