BOXIXG DAJT TRAFFIC. The beautiful weather on Tuesday had the effect of attracting a very large number of people out of town to seaside resorts and to the races, and consequently the railway traffic was heavier than on Boxing Day last year. « Approximately 6000 people travelled by the various trains to Wingatui, about 41C0 purchasing race tickets, and about 850 taking out ordinary tickets to Wingatui. The number of race tickets issued on Boxing Day last year was 4072. and the ordinary tickets to Wingatui numbered 557, making a total of 4890. Tuesday’s traffic, therefore, was heavier than that on the corresponding day of last year. The sale of seaside resort tickets were also heavier than that on Boxing Day last year, the number sola totalling 610. An increase of 738 over last year's figures is Shown in the total number of tickets issued at the Dunedin station from December 15, when the cheap' excursion rates commenced, until December 23. Last year’s total for the same period was 17,478, as compared with 18,216 this year. The increase this year is more than accounted for by the 9d7 tickets issued during the period to Christchurch in connection with the Industrial Kxhibition.
