A Manaia resident who spent the weekend at Onunake had the misfortune to fall among thieves (relates the Manaia Witness). On donning his garments, after taking a dip he found that his money had disappeared. A good beach is almost at Manaia’s back doors, but as distant fields look the greenest, so to the unwary a distant patch of sand may look the safest. Truly, in this, as in some other matters, one may go farther and fare worse.
