INVENTIONS AND APPLIANCES OF INTEREST TO AGRICULTURE.
C.J. LYNDE, MACDONALD COLLEGE, QLE. PROV., CANADA. POWER ATTACHMENT, new features of this attachment are the lever and tilting wheels at the right, these enable the operator to let the rear
wheels of the car down gently to their working position, and to lift them again when the work is finished.—Thomas J. Charon, Park River, North Dakota.
AUTOMOBILE HEATER. The air in this heater passes through the outer easing and is warmed by exhaust gases in the inner chamber. Its
temperature is regulated by valves in the exhaust pipe and by dampers in the air inlet.—Wilfred Jean, Lowell, Mass.
TRACTION COUPLING. This coupling is a tongue hinged at the middle to fold back on itself. It is used as shown above to haul the implement
with a team of horses; and as shown below, with a farm tractor. —Joseph C. Reuse, Libertyville, 111.
TRACTION PLATFORM. * This platform prevents a tractor from rearing far enough to fall on the driver, because its rear edge bears against the
ground when the tractor tilts, and thereby decreases the traction of the wheels and prevents further tilting. Jg,mes W\ Wright, lowa, Louisiana.
PLOUGH. The lift mechanism here is so arranged that when the driver pulls on the lever rope the ploughs are raised vertically by
springs and by power from the land wheel. When he pulls the rope again they are lowered gently against the tension of the springs.—-J. I. Case Co., Racine, Wisconsin.
PLOUGH HITCH. This hitch is in effect a universal joint. It permits the plough : to hold its correct
working position no matter how the tractor may tilt, to turn promptly, and to be lifted over obstructions.—New Brittain Machine Co., New Brittain, Conn.
