TURKEY’S TRIUMPH CELEBRATED. LONDON, October 24. The Viceroy’s latest telegram to Lord Peel points out that the Aloslems in several provinces of India are celebrating the triumph of Turkey. It is significant that the Hindus are holding aloof from the celebrations in the North-east Frontier provinces. The vernacular press has succeeded in convincing the Moslems that Great Britain is now Islam’s sole remaining enemy. The Alcslem hotheads in Delhi are also guilty of wild talk. The principal present anxiety is the unrest among the Sikh reformers, which has resulted in a serious increase of crime in parts of the Punjab, even by ex-soldiers. It is anticipated that the good crops and the consequent fall in food prices will help to allay the tension. The non-co-operation movement is quiescent. The Nationalist disagreements regarding participation in the Legislative "Councils are likely to split the Congress in December. RINGLEADERS SENTENCED. DELHI, October 24. The ringleaders of the Lahore Gaol mutiny some months ago, which was quelled after the prison shops had been set on fire, and were considerably damaged, were sentenced to 14 years’ rigorous treatment. Sixtv-nine other participants received sentences ranging from two to nine years. BOLSHEVIST AGENTS. LONDON, October 15. The Bolshevist agents in Central Asia (says the Peshawar correspondent of 'the ’limes) are now seeking to establish themselves as the friends of Islam in opposition to Great Britain. In India they are encouraging the recruitment for the army of fanatics, who would promote and participate in a general frontier rising. They ate supporting the Akals and the Sikli movement, and investigating and aiding every exhibition of political discontent. The primary object, is to attack the British power and prepare the ground for a world revolution. The Soviets are intriguing among the Baltic States, especially around Vilna, where negotiations are proceeding between Russia and Lithuania for a military convention.
