OAMARU MARKETS. iTeom Obb Own COBBESrOWDI'.NT.I OAMARU, July 15. The live stock market remains slow, and even at the weekly market sale there was only a small offering. Fat lambs constivuted the main feature, and these sold very well, extra prime bringing 27s 6d, prime from 2*2s 6d to 245, and medium from 20s to 21s 6d. The best of the fat ewes only reached 14s, and for others the prices tapered down to 10s. Sales of sheep by private treaty have been confined to a few modest lines of ewes, the prices recorded being as follows:—Mixed two, four, six, and eight-tooth. 24s 6d; full and failing-mouthed, 17s 6a; failing-mouthed, 12s; good breeding ewes are wanted, but cannot be got. There is still no demand for cattle outside of animals fit for slaughter or for dairy purposes. At the weekly eale fats were only represented by a trio of cows, which went at from £5 7s 6d to £6 7s 6d. A large number of fat stock, especially fat cattle, have been offering, and prices for the latter have dropped by about 5s to 10s per head, the quality in most cases not being so good. Prime fat bullocks are selling at from £8 to £10; medium, from £7 to £8; lighter sorts, from £5 10s to £7. • A fair number of fat heifers have been offered, and these brought from £t to £3. Dairy cows are still meeting with a fair demand, and prices obtained are on a par with last week's quotations. Prices for fat sheep have dropped during the week. Wethers are selling fairly well, but there is little demand for fat ewes. Prime heavy wethers are worth from 25s to 27s 6d; average sorts, 23s to 255; light and inferior sorts, 19s to 225. The Prime Minister has informed Mr Forbes that, the associated shiping companies have agreed to reduce the freight on linseed from 130 s per ton weight, plus 10 per cent, primage to 60s per ton weight, plus 10 per cent primage.
