With Easter so late this year the A.R.C. Winter meeting follows close on the Autumn meeting. Nominations fm the principal events were received on Tiiday last, the Great Northern Hurdle race attracting an entry of 38, and the SteepleGreat Northern double is getting popular with owners. This year 19 horses ar p encased in botb events. A olden Bubble is rather a surprise nomination for the G.N. Hurdles. The big son of Absurd was given his first turn over the small sticks on Tuesday morning, but though he got over all right his display was not very impressive. Dardanella is shaping well over the sma l sticks. The Spalpeen gelding failed to pick up a stake on the flat, but may do a lot better over hurdlesExplorer is still at Flllersbe. The Kenilworth gelding was given another turn oyer the big fences on Tuesday morning, his display being verv satisfactory. Battleplane Princess Charming. and Walton, three recruits to the Jumping game, shape well in their schooling work over hurdles. .. , , Right arid Left is a regular attendant on the track, and appears quite sound. Comedv Prince, the good-looking son of Comedy King, has been put in work again by Mr A. Robertson. 'A fair number of local hbrses will be competing at the Egmont meeting. Oikleigh is engaged in the Steeplechase. The St. Amans gelding is in good form, and the distance will suit him. _ Boomerday has a h-ndy weight in the M’Rae Memorial. With the going firm h ; > should run well. Bitholia has been galloping well on the track lately, hut has not run up to expectations in his races. He will be competing at Egmont. Mr P. Eva is taking Marble Crag and Manga.malioe to Egmont. The former scored an easy victory in the Maiden at. Avondale. Tenacious is engaged in the Steeplechase. The old fellow ran a good race in the hurdle race at Avondale on the opening day, finishing to Shellshock.
